Lives in Conroe • Building Conroe’s Future • Committed to Conroe
Leo Hewett is a lifetime Conroe resident. He was only one year old when his family selected a small Texas town halfway between Houston and Dallas as the place to raise their family and start a new business. Leo not only grew up in Conroe, he literally grew up serving the people of Conroe. His parents opened Hewett’s Café out on old 75 back in the 50s. Anyone who has been around Conroe for a while has surely dined at Hewett’s Café because it was one of the first restaurants to be open 24/7. Leo’s dad, “Shorty” Hewett, and mother, Marie, had plenty of work for “Little” Leo to do at the cafe. His gregarious nature quickly made him friends with patrons in Conroe. Well, “Little” Leo grew rapidly into the strapping adult he is today and still counts his best friends and business associates as the people of Conroe. He graduated from Conroe High School, attended Sam Houston State University, and later, married wife, Shirley with a ready-made family of two daughters Karrie and Kelly. He first became familiar with the workings of government when he worked for Roy Harris, then County Clerk of Montgomery County. Leo put his people skills and business talents to work as a young Realtor and Broker. He also was a successful Conroe ceramic tile contractor with his Leo Tile Company Showroom for more than a decade. Today, he remains the owner of Leo Hewett Properties and has added New Image Builders, Inc. to his professional entrepreneurship. Leo’s quiet and unassuming way of achieving goals has been instrumental in many of the milestones in Conroe’s business and community history– always accomplished without regard for credits. Now, he stands ready to serve Conroe with even more contributions to Conroe’s future growth as your City Councilman, Position 5. This is a special man who is truly “Committed to Conroe.”
